Program Development - Using ActiveX Controls

Audience: This course builds upon the existing expertise of Windows programmers and extends their capability to develop applications using ActiveX Controls. The course addresses several techniques frequently employed in the creation of enterprise level applications using ActiveX technology.

Duration: 3 days

Course Abstract:

This course will employ both instructor-led discussions coupled with hands-on workshops to illustrate the following topics:

o An overview of the current ActiveX technologies.

o The rationale of the ActiveX approach to developing software using components.

o ActiveX programming technologies using high level tools

o Intensive practical exercises directed toward programmers developing multi-tiered and/or Internet applications.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to develop:

o Visual Basic objects.

o ActiveX EXE.

o ActiveX DLL.

o ActiveX Controls.

o ActiveX Documents.

o Multithreaded and Thread-Safe ActiveX.

o ActiveX Control Architecture.

o Methods, Properties and Events.

o Creating ActiveX Documents.

o Custom, Stock and Ambient Properties.

o Creating an ActiveX EXE.

Class Format: Lecture/Lab

Prerequisites:

Prior C/C++ and/or GUI programming knowledge is recommended.
